Research Help: Speak with a Law Librarian

Visit us in person or schedule an appointment. Read on for basic research guidance.

Regular Reference

The Reference Area & Desk is located on the second floor of the library, near the main elevator, on the Lowerline side of the building. The telephone number for the Reference Desk is:

(504) 861-5792

You can also email your research or reference questions to:

lawreference@loyno.edu

Reference Librarians can answer questions about the use of library materials and suggest research strategies. Reference Librarians cannot answer legal questions and they cannot give legal advice. Feel free to also contact one of the librarians if you want to set up a time to meet with them.

Regular Reference Hours

Monday: 1:00pm - 8:00pm

Tuesday: 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Wednesday: 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Thursday: 1:00pm - 8:00pm

Friday: 1:00pm-4:00pm

One of the reference librarians is also available on Sundays, from 1-5pm, to help you with research and reference questions. Reference hours during the summer are based upon availability and projects that are occurring at the time.

Request a Research Consultation

Loyola Law students may request an individual or group appointment with a reference librarian, covering any needs or questions about any type of legal research. Consultations are offered all year and may be helpful for academic papers or before summer employment. Examples of training sessions include HeinOnline, non-legal databases, advanced searching for cases, and researching a paper topic.
