Further guidance for Louisiana-specific materials and customs, along with historical materials, can be found in Mary Garvey Algero, Louisiana Legal Research App'x A. (3d ed. 2017) and M.A. Cunningham, Guide to Louisiana and Selected French Legal Materials and Citation, 67 Tul. L. Rev. 1305 (1993).
To search for bills, Acts, and other materials online you must first know which year’s session you would like to research. Go to http://legis.la.gov. Then hover your mouse over the “Sessions” heading on the menu at the top of the page. Select either the most recent legislative session or select “Other Sessions.” The amount of information available depends on the year of the session – the more recent, the more information is available.
